PEOPLE OF GRENADA...PLEASE HELP!
Our sisters and brothers in Haiti are in desperate need of assistance after the earthquake that struck on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Tens of thousands have been reported dead. Millions of people have been displaced from their homes. The Haiti Earthquake Relief Committee has been formed to help facilitate donations from Grenadians, both at home and abroad.
This is an all-volunteer effort committed to raising funds and collecting urgently needed supplies to send directly to Haiti by the second week of February 2010. The committee has chosen to partner with Food for the Poor, one of the few organizations equipped to receive direct relief assistance in Haiti.
We will begin collecting donated goods at the Grenada Craft Centre on Lagoon Road (next to Tropicana) from Tuesday, January 19 at 10am. This collection center will remain open on weekdays from 8am to 6pm, allowing people an easy opportunity to drop items off on their way to or from work. An account has been set up at Grenada Co-operative Bank, making it easy for all to contribute. All funds raised will be wired directly to Food for the Poor before the account is closed. Bank statements for this account will be posted directly to this web-site for public scrutiny. Click here to see how much has been raised so far.
